I am a traditionally published author--will you carry my book or host an event?

We are happy to consult with traditionally published authors or their agents/publishers and would love to host an event with you! Please keep in mind that we are a fiction-focused bookstore with a small regional collection of nonfiction, so we will likely not stock your book long-term if it does not fit our collection. We host author signings, meet and greets, press tour events, and more--please email info@storiedbookery.com with the complete details of what you would like, including book and publisher details, type of event you would like to host, date and time preferred, etc. 

I am an independently or self published author--will you carry my book or host an event?

Congratulations on publishing your book--we know that is a huge undertaking! We are happy to host author signings and book talks for local/regional independent authors of all genres. Our current independent author agreement/request form can be found here--please fill it out and we will respond as soon as we can about whether or not your event will be a good fit for our store. If we have had a successful signing event with you, and if your book fits the guidelines of our book buying policy, we will consider stocking your book in our shop. 

We are a fiction-focused bookstore, carrying most fiction genres for both children and adults, with limited shelf space, so we are judicious about the books that we stock. Please note that at this time, we cannot stock books published only by Amazon or Amazon-owned subsidiaries. Amazon actively works to undercut independent bookstores and we have found that the print quality of KDP books does not meet our store standards. We also do not stock books that use AI in any capacity, including cover art. We consider thousands of books yearly to be stocked in our store--please ensure your book meets the following guidelines before contacting us to stock it:

• Is printed through IngramSpark or a high-quality printing company. Books published or printed exclusively through Amazon or any of its subsidiaries such as CreateSpace or KDP will not be considered. 
• Has a standard discount and is marked as returnable. This is for quality assurance on our end. We have limited retail space in the store, so if a book does not sell, we need to have an option for its return.
• Has an ISBN barcode on the back of the book, so that we can check it out efficiently.
• Is priced appropriately for the market.
• Has a professionally perfect-bound spine with the author’s name and book title, so that we can properly shelve the book, and so customers know what to expect from the spine.
• Is suitable for our inventory and the demographics of our customers.
• Meets or exceeds publishing industry standards, so that we can select high-quality books for our customers.

Please note that we do not take walk-in requests for events or book buying--we have limited staff, and our time is spent tending to our customers and the needs of the store. Any books dropped off for review will not be returned. We do not offer a consignment model at this time.
